Marcio was born in Belem, Para, in the north of Brazil, where he
studied Social Sciences (Anthropology, Sociology and Political Science) at
the "Federal University of Para" (UFPA). He begun his
music studies at the "Carlos Gomes Conservatory", where
he studied classical singing, symphonic percussion and folk guitar.
His singing studies were further refined at the "Maestro Waldemar
Henrique School of Music". He was a member of the "Carlos
Gomes Conservatory Symphonic Chorus" and a Vocal Technique
teacher at "Tao Academy of Music". He also taught private
lessons at the "Musical Activities Services of the Federal
University-" (SAM-UFPA), while he kept his classical singing
recitals in Belem. He was a voluntary music teacher at the most
respected institution for the blind people in Belem, Instituto Jose
Alvares de Azevedo. Marcio has been selected to perform in international
music festivals and workshops throughout Brazil, including Chorus
Conducting, Renaissance Music & Dance, Classical Singing Techniques,
Baroque Singing, Rhythm and Pulse, Music Therapy, Contemporary Music
Composition and more. Some of his "Musical Improvisation"
workshops and live performances were directed, conducted and joined
by great names such as Egberto Gismonte, Carlos Malta, Hermeto Pascoal,
among others. During his Music Therapy workshop in Curitiba-PR,
he found out that one of the Nations best Music Therapy Colleges
was located on that beautiful city. At that same year he moved
to Curitiba in the south of Brazil, after been accepted upon passing
the Music Therapy entrance exam (vestibular). Living in Curitiba,
Marcio was invited to compose and perform live the soundtrack of
the theather Spectacle "Lucifer Depression". The production
was a complete success, and they were invited to appear at the "International
Theather Festival of Curitiba". During his Music Therapy course
he accumulated more than 4,000 hours of experience attending people
with various types of mental and/or physical needs (elderly people,
Down Syndrome, Autism, Sociopath Syndrome, Alzheimer's patients
and more). He was selected to participate in a government program
attending in the urban slums (favelas), using the power of percussion
to rescue children at risk, which have been in part already involved
with drugs and gangs. The project was a great success and the kids
formed their own musical groups performing all over the city. Marcio
was also invited to join some bands in Curitiba, and joined three:
The "Celtic Planet", "Aires Gallegos" (music
from Galicia, Spain) and Keltoy (traditional music from Scotland,
Ireland, Brittany - ancient France). He performed as a percussionist
and vocalist in these bands until he got his Music Therapy College
Degree and his Massage Therapy Professional Degree in 2000. Soon
after that, he moved to Boston-Massachusetts, where he has been
performing as vocalist, percussionist, guitar and bass player with
several artists and groups such as: SP Jazz, Choro Trio, Eddy Dyer
& Walking Shoe Revival, Espresso Brazil, Samba Tremeterra, Marcio
& Friends, Unidos de Boston, Guy Mendilow, Os Bossais, The Brazilian
Popular Ensemble, Sonho Meu, Elena Zoubareva Classical Ensemble
and more. Some great names of Brazilian music such as Milton Nascimento,
Daniela Mercury, Alcione, Zelia Duncam and Virginia Rodrigues had
their concerts in Boston opened by Marcio Roberto D'aLari.
Marcio has been volunteering for the
"Tuesday Meals Program" at the First Parish Church in
Cambridge. He has also been the subtitute coordinator, managing
food preparation, setting- up and dinner servings for the homeless
people in Harvard Square. He is an administrative member and one
of the therapists of the “Star of Life Healing Center” in Somerville
- MA, attending as Music Therapist and Massage Therapist.
